The 10:10 Project is a relaxed introduction into deep conversation with other men, and often by the end of the session I am left wanting a bit more time to discuss topics with others that have intrigued me. An acceptable form of therapy even for the toughest men.

Attending The 10:10 Project was an enriching experience. Not only did I get to watch great films, but I learned that I wasn’t alone in some of life’s struggles. The questions unlocked new ways of understanding men’s issues and helped me to discuss openly my own personal thoughts and experiences. Some questions pin pointed issues I hadn’t considered before, and through the movies and challenging questions, the project helped me relate not only to what my place as a man in the world could look like, but men in general. Listening and discussion with the other men brought a new sense of brotherhood and I made new and hopefully lasting friendships.

I found The 10:10 Project sessions illuminating and exhilarating. It was great to discuss these films for their thematic content relating that to challenges men face in everyday life. As a space to discuss serious issues that men often don’t or find hard to discuss, the use of films and the structure of the session created a safe environment in which men from different faiths and backgrounds could share their feelings openly and constructively.

As an atheist it was also illuminating to see my religious brothers in the group bring their own experiences and relationship with God. Their faith, their belief and how that shapes their engagement with the films and the themes we explored. The films themselves are thought provoking films which speak to the power of the art as a form of therapy and space in which to explore deep human emotions and morals.

The project has been a great way to get me and other men thinking and talking about more than the weather and yesterday’s sport! It’s healthy to reflect on how I am as a person and what made me this way, particularly in the company of other supportive men. The use of film is a great way to set up and “anchor” discussions – it’s also made the discussions stay in the memory.

I have really enjoy being part of The 10:10 Project for many different reasons. When it comes to the films, I have seen some of them before but the Session Videos really help us to look at the movie in different ways, picking up on topics and themes I wouldn’t have previously noticed. When it comes to splitting into smaller groups after the film to talk about the movies, the discussion questions help us find it easier to speak more deeply and open up more about our lives and the challenges we have. Really quite a bonding and transformative experience.
